Notes
- Very little is known about the Galind population and its language. The reconstruction of the phonological system, like other aspects of the language, is not based on texts but on unclear material like ethnonyms, hydronyms and some Galind loanwords in modern Russian dialects of the Moscovite area. Dating too is controversial. It is not possible to ascertain when the Galind became extinct. The Old Rissian Chronicles inform us that they were still numerous and bellicose during the 13th century (cfr. Dini 1997:217ss.).
